our songs

stay another day

when kt's mum was diagnosed with breast cancer, she realized she needed more days to ask all the questions she had never asked.

immigration

in october 2008, kt spent a horrific 7 and a half hours in a holding room at zambian immigration. she was fined and deported to zimbabwe.the best way for one to cope with such a day is to write a silly song. written on 4 continents, this song had its international debut before a packed house at bar4 in new york city.

a little more

this song attempts to explain what it feels like to want to love something, and what it eventually feels like to find that love. ps. we love zambia!

stuck in the middle

as a band we are trying to live in the gap that exists between the rich and the poor and never become complacent in our life of plenty or be comfortable with poverty existing in our world.

mercy

the band met Mercy in February 2009. she had a terrible open wound on her leg which had been untreated for 2 years. encountering Mercy challenged us to consider the millions of other children who are being neglected and mistreated worldwide, a challenge which gave new insight into the depths of God's mercy.

perfect

a tongue in cheek ditty written late at night in a zambian backpacker's lamenting the disturbing truth that if only everyone was "more like me," the world would be a better place.

daniel's lullaby

kt met baby daniel in zimbabwe when he was only a few weeks old. he had been abandoned in a ditch and was discovered with dirt in his ears, nose and mouth. it was suspected someone had tried to bury him alive. by the grace of God, daniel was rescued and now lives happily and healthily in a babies home called isaiah's. with a vintage guitar in hand and a face full of tears, kt wrote this lullaby for daniel.

reckless greed

when you look poverty in the eye you cannot ignore it, but acknowledging it is sometimes quite traumatic. this is a selfish song; asking if we could have a break from seeing the horrors of poverty in the eyes of children.

beautiful face

the world in which we live constantly turns a blind eye to the hardships of many. we have discovered immeasurable beauty in the faces of those the world deems worthless. *i see that hand!*

new kind of beautiful

this song was written several years ago for a group of young women. it is our hope that the world in which we live would come to recognize a new standard of beauty and be freed from the distorted representation of beauty surrounding us.

shine a light

most of the time life doesn't make sense and we recognize that we need help to focus. we have seen and experienced the best and worst of the human condition and we are thankful that God helps us find light in the darkest of places.

the happy song

written in saskatoon, canada, christmas 2008.it was -30 degrees and having lost all feeling in their arms and legs, there was no conceivable reason for kt and joy to feel happy, but they did...
